Does anyone run multiple aix machines with using one video, keyboard and mouse. I've
had problems with a kvm and it seems the only
way out is a reboot and that's only a 50/50
shot at best.

Thanks.

It works same way with usual PCs -
Do not move mouse or press keys while switching between machines

We run four AIX system and a Linux box with a single monitor, keyboard and mouse. The KVM is a compucable rack mounted version. Works great for us. Sessions are switchable but keyboard command, pushbutton or activity detection.

Telnet all the way. PuTTY with $TERM=xterm. Can't beat it. For console work, Computone RAS, although the emulation sometimes gets wacky.

FreeBSD 3.5

vt220 for console
xterm for ssh to FreeBSD or AIX

smitty works fine in either way
