KSU Variant is unsupported by Norstar Manager

I try to dial into my RAD using Norstar Manager 3.5 and I get an error "The KSU Variant is unsupported by Norstar Manager-Try Remote Tools"

I find this error message in the manual but it doesn't tell what it means or what to do....
Does this mean my system is too new for this version?
Any suggestions?

You need to use Norstar Remote Utilities instead of Norstar Manager most likely as you may be dialing into a newer system? what kind of system is it?
If you are not sure if you have Remote Tools wich is in NRU then open Norstar Manger 3.5 and log in then highlight your customer in the customer database field then click FILE and then Reote Tools, if you do not see Remote Tools then you will need to get NRU, the latest versions is 9.1.

I got a even better question.. I have NRU 9.1 and NM 3.7 but for some reason I can't get NM to dial out or even try to dial out. I have the corrrect com port selected and remote. baud rate and modem string . but it just dosn't even try to dial out. my NRU 9.1 works fine and I use it by opening NM and then selecting the system and opening remote tools. but for DR5 systems I am forced to use remote set wich is still in my opion better that starting a full session. but I have some systems that do not yet have a Fast Rad and as we all know NRU dose not run on older Rads. So if anyone can help with this problem I am all ears.

Do you not get an error code? it might be the modem string needing to be changed depending on the modem you are using.

error code is a 551 .. The modem string is the same as I used in NM 3.5 .
Here is wut i did
I installed NRU 9.1 I then installed NM 3.7 froma seperate file.
But I don't know and can't explain why it doesn't work.

-551 Modem timed out.
- Phone number wrong.
- The RAD did not answer.
- Modem init string is wrong or not compatible with modem.
- Modem port problems.
- If running Job Queue, possibly invalid RAD Password.
- Dial mode does not match line (Pulse dial does not work on Tone line).

I have the error codes but everythin seems to be fine .. It jsut aint workin.

I would think it would be the modem string....try another modem, maybe an older type to match that default string from Nortel.

I have tried a US robotics external modem as well as the internal modem that is on my new machine.
If someone has a modem string I can try please feel free to post it and I will try it.

I noticed on my system that the modem init. strings for NM and Remote tools are different, If you use one in the others place it give you an error and won't initialize the modem. Try reselecting the default setting button, or plug in the init string from the manual.
