i have a 100 phone system that is dying...if i take the cartridge and software card out, and put it into the new system will the new system take the programming of the old system?

Depends on which Norstar system you're talking about. If it's an old 824 with a 2-piece cartridge the answer is yes, as long as the replacement system is identically configured. If it's a MICS the answer is no because the programming is stored on the motherboard. You'll need to use NRU to backup the system and restore to the replacement system. Again, the replacement system must be identically configured to restore the backup.

ok, so i took out a xc 4.0 ksu and put in a 7.1....they have 12 expansions on this mics...how long does it take to come back up? been waiting for an hour now...phones no longer say maint. on them...just flashing...

also is nvm compatible with 7.1?

thanks in advance,

chad

You can't go from 4.0XC to 7.1XC without a XC upgrade tool. The phones will flash forever. There's a good chance that you've defaulted the programming, but put the 4.0XC back in and hope for the best. You also need to upgrade the NVRAM cartridge to R2 if your existing one is R1. If by NVM you are referring to a NAM it is technically not compatible with 7.1, although it may work if it is at R4.1.

i took out a 4.0 box and put in a new 7.1 box that had already been upgraded...does that matter?

If it had already been upgraded it should have come up within 5-10 minutes. If you don't care about saving programming, and you don't have a PRI keycode installed, try putting in the 4.0XC software card and see if it comes up. Then you can do a STARTUP with the 4.0XC, pull the power when the display reads "Applying template" and then put the 7.1XC back in. The 4.0 voicemail is not compatible with a MICS R7.1XC.

thats the problem...i have pri enablers on both systems...crap

main phone still says that its in maint. and its been about 45 min since i rebooted the thing..

And just to put icing on the cake, NO the 4.0 NVM is not compatable. You say the 7.1 has PRI in it also? That means that it had to be up at one point to get the ID out of it.
