When running ps aux, this process seems to always head the list. What is kproc? It is still growing with an old date stamp, in spite of the fact that I rebooted the server last weekend.

Thanks!

We have 2 entries. The big one is at the top. Is this a process that should be killed or left alone.

root 516 71.4 1.0 8 5972 - A Jan 30 5051:23 kproc
root 774 0.4 1.0 12 5972 - A Jan 30 31:51 kproc

I see now that all the root processes are dated Jan 30.

Leave it alone, those are "kernal processes" which the OS itself is running.

Thanks for the prompt response!
