If anyone is trying to use the Kodak imaging controls (also known as Wang imaging controls), beware ...

It seems that the Windows 98 version of these controls have a bug. The result of this is that, if you save an image to a BMP, the image will be corrupted. Since BMP is the only image format that these controls support in common with VFP, it means that the controls are pretty useless with VFP.

Fortunately, the Windows 2000 version of the controls don't suffer from this problem. So, if you plan to use the controls, make sure that they are dated in 8 May 2001 or later.

I've spent the last three days struggling with these controls, so I hope this will help others.

I can save jpgs to bmps using Wang imaging controls without corruption under Win98SE, so I suspect you have another problem there.

See faq184-2401 for additional background on the use of Wang imaging controls.

Unfortunately the 'free' use of the graphics suite has ended with the advent of Windows XP, so their use with VFP is ultimately going to disappear in time.

Thanks for that feedback. I don't know what my problem was, but as the end-user is running under Win 2000, I'm not going to spend any more time worrying about it.

I've just spent four days sruggling with scanning, driving a digital camera, working with multiple TWAIN sources and manipulating images. It was all much harder than I expected, but it's finished now (and what a shame I quoted a fixed price for this work).
