Known IE6 scrollTop bug. Workaround possible?

There is a known IE6 bug where scrollTop in a select element does not work; as it is seen as a native control.

I understand the chance is slim, but does anyone know of a possible workaround or similar alternative?

It should support the scrollHeight property.
