Hi

We are using (or trying to) Knowledge Sync to email out PO forms generated in Crystal to vendors as .pdf attachements on the email.

The event fires off ok (scheduled with ord_status=P and ord_no tracked) but when it tries to open the Crystal Report and attach it to the email we get the following error
Open:Error:Access denied.

When opening the administration section and the corrective action folders, the report error is given as -2147206458.

The report and event Manager are both using sa for our macola SQL database.

Has anyone else had this type of problem before?

What account are you using for Ksync? You should setup a Account just for KSync. The account should have Domain Administrator access. The account used by Ksync may not have the access need to perform the Mail function or write the PDF to the folder.

Thanks,

We are running Knowledge Sync under a domain admin account so I don't think it is that.

The Crystal report must use the same ODBC data source that is used in Knowledge Sync to attach to the database.

Silly question but you are able to run this report in Crystal utself are you not?

Hi

The same DSN is being used for both with the sa account.

The report opens in crystal as expected.

I'm going to copy the report to the server we are running Knowledge sync on and see if this makes a difference.

The report opens as expected? That was not what I asked. Does it execute as expected?

I'm doing this now with a client for order acknowledgements and Invoices so I know it works.

I think you need to use Windows Authentication vs. SQL Authentication. I would change the DSN to use that and then create a group on your network, put your Macola users in the group and then give the group rights in SQL to the correct databases (check the datareader box)

In our case, we have Exact Event Manager (EEM) installed on our SQL server as well as Crystal 8.5. I've read somewhere that you don't have to have Crystal installed on the EEM server

If the report is stored on the same server as Event Manager then you need to use a local path to get to the report vs. a mapped drive. If the report is on a different server then you could use the mapped drive.

Kevin,

Your answer begs the question: Does Event Manager support UNC paths as well as mapped paths?

example: \\servername\directory\subdirectory\filename.

Hi All,

The Crystal report does indeed open and execute as expected when not using Event manager.

We copied the report from our remote server to the server with event manager on it and tried opening it manually there which also worked. We then pointed Event manager at the local copy of the report and guess what - it didn't work!

What we have is two licences for Event Manager, one installed on the server and the other on a p.c. as a remote client, We've set the remote p.c. up to point at the servers KS database (as per instructions from the vendor.) When we copied the report to the remote p.c. the scheduled event worked and produced the report.

This is really strange as this p.c. was switched off when the schedule was run so it definately was the server running the report - So it appears to be working now but I'm going to have to keep a close eye on it to ensure it keeps working.

May be the report has to run once successfully on the remote p.c. before the server can run.

Forgot to say,

Thank you all for your help - it was much appreciated.

You may also want to be certain that you have the latest build for the Ksync service. That file is available on the Exact Portal. The original service would sometimes stop running on windows 2003.

Make sure you have the emailed notifications should wait until reports are complete is checked.
