kill the pid

installing secondary sites via smssender accounts, on one server it squirts down ok but then when you read the log - it says it will continue but cant until the pid 352 terminates

it's only the sms bootstrap is loaded

any thoughts - can i find out what this pid is and how can i kill it or what do i need to get this to finish install

used the tlist command

copied it to c:\winnt\system32 on remote server
use at command to run bat that consists tlist > c:\pid.txt
edit .txt file and i can see the pid

the pid in question is setup.exe

i'm assuming it's the sms setup from the lush dir - so if i kill this will install continue or ???

any thoughts -

I have the same issue as you but the with the PID17.
What I have found out so far is that PID = Process ID.
The process that was running was the SMS installation.
So when I killed it the installation didn't continue
Hope your Process is something else than the SMS.

PS. If you run the Task manager you will see what process has the PID 352

yep i know about the task manager but i'm 100 miles from the server

if you copy the tlist to the winnt\system32 of the server then pipe to a text file then you get the same output as task man

the pid 352 just lists as setup.exe

i'm assuming it's sms setup but you never know

what did you do - did you just clean it up and reinstall?

Like you say, setup.exe is probably the SMS installation.

The SMS on this site is still a pending issue. The problem here is not the SMS but the server it self. They (the site admins) have done something to screw up the server and I have on numerous occasions tried to install and remove but it never worked for me.
What I think would help is to flaten the server and reinstall everything from scratch, but this is a production server and I'm out of luck.....

Good news I got my PID fixed! SMS is now installing.
The issue was with an ODBC component reinstall error that was preventing the SMS installation.

Hope you have as much luck with yours as i had with mine.
