Hiya
I'm using Dreamweaver 3. The template feature is a swell idea and saves tons of time in updating satellite pages on a large site but I would like these inside pages to be able to have their own meta tags and keywords so that they may be found individually in the search engines. I've tried inputing this information in the HTML source (in the editable regions) but to no avail. The only thing I'm able to change in each template page is the Title. Is this the case? Does Dreamweaver 4 address this?
I'll have to confess that Dreamweaver prompts me that I have no "editable regions" each time I update (even though I do). I found Dreamweaver to be a very difficult program to learn on my own and I'm certain I basically got it to do what I want in some roundabout way. There's probably a myriad of coding conflicts.

Thanks a bunch

It is just not possible to learn DM4 just by going through the tutorial. The tutorial only covers about 10% of what DM4 can do. Buy a book, the Dreamweaver Bible4 is excellent, as well as having a disk with lots of great extensions.

A book will save you a heap of time. the bible covers templates in great detail, gives lots of tips etc,

Invest.

zavsays,
You might also look into getting one of the "learn DW in a weekend" or the dummie's series or anything by Visual QuickStarts Basics or a Lynda Weinman book. They're a little smaller and less expensive (around $25) and they do a lot of handholding and walkthrough. Good for brand-new newbies. If you're using templates already you may not fall into this category. I've found the DW Bible to be a great reference book (has anything you want to know) but a little intimidating for just starting out. Nippi is totally right about the tutorials - like having the users manual on your car instructing you how to honk, and that's it.

I'd try both types of books, if you have the cash. - nichole

Thanks
I'm pretty convinced DW3 only lets you change the title. I don't know if DW4 addresses this drawback.
