keystrokes and variables

Hi all,
I am new to Authorware and I currently have a program with a menu box and I am trying to figure out how to be able to type in any key and have it come up with a different key. Example being if I type in a "P" then a "G" will show in my title block.Or how when you see a password title bar where when you type in your password and it shows up as asterisk'or dots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is 'Authorware'?
Is it the Adobe/Macromedia-Program I find with google?
Is it written in Java?
Wikipedia only mentions Javascript, which is a very different thing than Java.

Authorware is a compiler, Java can be written in Authorware and I can't seem to figure out how to create my desired result. Any help would be appreciated. Tahnks all.

There is a JPasswordField in java/swing, which will do the asterix-thing for you.

To change P to G, you need a KeyListener.
In the javadocs, you'll find a tutorial for that job.
