Keycodes

Hello Everyone,
I am looking to add an additional 8 voice ports into our Meridian Mail system. I know that this is discontinued but thought there might be another feasable/reasonable way to get the keycodes to allow the additional hardware it's functionality?

if you can not get keycodes from nortel then you can not add ports... little hard to guess a 24 digit alpha/numeric that might work.. that and the security dongle has kept us from doing free upgrades for 20 years...

Hello John,
I was not thinking that, but other ways to get around it. Like buying another cabinet or something like that. Maybe a reseller, something...In the end I think they will have to bite the bullet and upgrade to Call Pilot.

The only way you could increase your ports is to try and find a larger Meridian Mail on the gray market and buy it whole and replace your current system.

Like John said, only Nortel creates keycodes and I don't think there is anyone out there that will openly show you a cracked keycode and sell it to you.

when we tried to sell our mermail (48 ports 2000 users), everyone seem to think they could not reuse our keycodes due to the dongle on the switch.. i always thought you could. ours ended up in the dumpster, no one made an offer.

John is correct. Meridian mail uses the PBX serial number to verify keycodes. If the PBX serial number does not match what the meridian mail has in it it will not come up.

Time to join the rest of the world and upgrade.

I thought there might be a way to buy another Meridian Mail cabinet and do a add it to the system or something else. This is fine just another reason why they need to bite the bullet and upgrade.
