Keyboard shortcut in find/change dialogue

Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone could tell me if there is a keyboard shortcut for the change button in the find/change dialogue? I know that you can press return to select the find next button but I can't seem to find any keyboard combination that will allow me to press the change button.

Any help much appreciated.

...the only alternative is the change all or find/change button as far as I'm aware...

...maybe in CS3???

As far as I know there is not. I looked in the Keyboard Shortcuts to see if it was editable and I didn't see it there. I think that's one of the reasons they implemented the Change/Find button...instead of having to switch back and forth between Change and Find Next...but I can see where it would come in handy!

You can do a ctrl+f and cycle through the buttons with Tab, Tab+Shift cycles backwards...could be a little faster.

I am not sure what operating system you are using. You said Return so I am assuming MAC.

In windows you can press alt+h and that will "click/press" the [Change]-button.

In windows you can press alt+g and that will "click/press" the [change/find]-button.

What ever the equivalent to the [alt]-key would be in MAC you could try that…hope it works.

The Mac equivalent of alt is option and I just tried it...it doesn't work. The problem is, when you enter info, even though you're in the find/change dialog box, your cursor is still in the text frame. With option+g, you end up typing the copyright symbol in the find box. I tried other combinations, but I ended up changing the text in the text frame.

My question is this...if you can do it on Windows why not on the Mac? The beauty of InDesign is, that the program is virtually identical (in operation at least) on either platform. Other than different modifier keys, it should have the same feature set. Maybe it's there and we just haven't found it yet!

Yes you can change it and very easy.
Edit/keyboard Shortcuts
scroll down to find/change then in the bottom you can change it to any short you want that isn't already used.

...this thread is really refering to shortcuts within the dialogue, not to get to the dialogue...
