I´ve installed QuarkXpress 4, but when I try to start it up, it tells me: "this version of QuarkXPress does not work with this keyboard. (86)"
Can anyone tell me how to solve this? I've tried another keyboard, but this didn't work.
I really need to start working on something...
Thanks, Bud.

I think it is more likely to be your keyboard settings rather than the actual keyboard itself.

Do you know the country setting you have for the keyboard? US or British? What Mac OS are you using? Is it a US or UK version of Quark? Or...?

More details will help.

Regards

Tony

QuarkXPress U.S English will work with only US or domestic keyboards. Quark is very particular about which keyboard is used with the QuarkXPress flavor.
So if u use U.S English flavor, then ur keyboard setting must be U.S English(and don't forget to click SET AS DEFAULT option under it) and ur regional settings should also be U.S English.

You need to set your keyboard settings to US English.

In windows you can do this by going to control panels > keyboard and select the language as US English and set it as default.

In mac you can do this by going to apple menu > control panels > keyboard and select language as US English.

Once you've done this you should be able to run QuarkXPress.

Solutions For Mac OS:

¡¤ Select the keyboard language in the Mac OS Keyboard control panel (Apple Menu ¡ú Control Panels ¡ú Keyboard) that matches the language version of your copy of QuarkXPress. For example, if you are using QuarkXPress U.S. English, select U.S. in the control panel.
¡¤ If you are using Mac OS 8.0 or higher, and you installed the Mac OS Setup Assistant, launch it and follow the on-screen directions to make sure that the Regional Preferences for your operating system are set to a language that matches version of QuarkXPress that you are using.

Solution for Windows:
¡¤ Click the Regional Settings icon in the Windows Control Panel. Check to see that the language selected in the Regional Settings tab of the control panel matches the language version of QuarkXPress that you are using. If it doesn¡¯t, select the correct language, and restart your computer.

Hope this Help,

solution (tried under windows nt4 ) settings -> control panel -> regional settings -> input locales : select english us as input locale/input language then set as default. if this settings is correct, you can use any keyboard layout

Yup, QXP is more sensitive abt the settings than the layout.
