HI
I have been asked to find out the HP part number for a HP Nc6200 mouse Pointer Nipple. If anybody knows a part number please let me know.

Thanks
PB

Surely, you're joking?

Why would he be joking about it? They do wear out.

What he's referring to is properly called the "pointing stick", also brand-named TrackPoint, Stick Point, QuickPoint, AccuPoint and FineTrack.

It has a little rubber cap over the top of it, which feels like an eraser. They wear out/through after a while.

So, meanwhile, go to and then support, and put in the full HP part number. nc6200 isn't it. Couldn't find any matches, sorry.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Okay. I thought the OP meant a part of a standard mouse - shows that I had no clue what they were talking about. Oops.

[blush]

Well, I learned something new for sure. TrackPoint is what I've mostly heard it referred to, I believe. And if I had of looked up the model #, I might have known what he was talking about. [smile]

I meant to say "he/she" since I don't know the poster well enough to know if it's a he or she. Oh well.. [smile]

Looking at pbing's profile, the OP doesn't appear to be very active on the forums.

All of that since Jul 16, 2001

So hopefully we'll find out if it was helpful to the OP, but I wouldn't be shocked if we don't.
