I am not even sure if I should post this here in XP forum, but since it is happening on a XP machine ...

This XP Pro machine is part of a domain. The localization settings and keyboard settings are set to US (English), but in MS-Word, when the user presses the left mouse button, it goes right and when right is pressed, it moves left. The up and down arrows are fine and so are others like pageup and pagedown. I tried different keyboards but all keyboards exhibit the same behavior. Also, this does not happen in all Office and other applications, but like some in Word, etc.

Where should I look.
Kindly advice.
Thanks.

Within MS Word, try going to Tools, Customize, Keyboard.

Check if CharLeft and/or CharRight are switched. Or if you don't have any macros assigned to the keyboard, try Reset All.

This may not work, but it's worth a try.

Defintiely worth a try. Will try and post back.
Thanks.

I tried that, but didnt work. But I think I noticed what the problem was. On the top, where the ruler is, the inches read from 7 to 1 instead of 1 to 7 both in Word and Outlook(only when composing a mail). Of course, I can reset it by double clicking on the ruler and setting, the alignment, gutter position, from left to right and it seems to have taken care of the problem.
But when close and open it, I encounter the same problem. I renamed the normal.dot file, to see if it creates a new normal.dot file and resets it, but no luck there either.
Please advice.
Thanks.

Go to Microsoft Office Tools under Start, Programs and look at Microsoft Language settings. Chances are you have a right to left language that is enabled.
