keyboard commands and properties disabled

I've been using Flash Pro8 and this has never happened before until recently...

steps are:
1. open a flash file

2. use keyboard command keys such as F12 to publish preview, Ctrl-C to copy, F5 to insert frame...works fine the first few minutes, then afterwards it doesn't any more. i thought it was just my keyboard being disconnected from my machine, but if i go to the Actionscript window, i'm able to enter characters.

3. also, if you select a frame in the first few minutes of opening the file, you are able to see Properties such as frame name, etc. after awhile, the properties fields look inactive and you aren't able to view frame names.

any idea as to what may be causing this?

I've been experiencing the same set of symptoms; the loss of keyboard commands. I routinely use the hotkeys (Z for zoom, V and A for the selectors, P for pen tool, etc) and sometimes they just die on me, same as you said. I haven't been able to find any real reason for this.

I was thinking that it might be my keyboard: I've got another weird issue in Flash (also, After Effects and Illustrator). If I hold down the Space bar to move my view around the composition, or hold down Shift to link both axis when scaling, OR EVEN while selecting multiple obejcts it will work fine for around 2 seconds, but if I hold the keyboard button down for longer than that the whole app, and actually the mouse-pointer as well, will lock up. Once I release the button it stays locked up for a few seconds, and then it's fine. Winamp will keep playing without a hitch while it's locked.

I've got a Logitech G15 USB keyboard, and I wonder if the command buffer is just lagging out, or something. I have no problem editing large Photoshop files in CS2, and Maya runs fine.
