Hi gang! One day I was working on our NT Server (SP 6a). I think I was doing a patch update and I needed to reboot. When I rebooted and got back to the Ctrl-Alt-Del login screen I noticed that my keyboard and mouse weren't working. So I restarted again just to see if it was a one time glitch. It wasn't. So I rebooted once again to see if I could enter the setup utility. Low and behold I could. All the settings looked fine. So I can't log in to my server and I really need to have access to it. But since I can't log in I'm stuck. Why would the keyboard and mouse work in POST but not in the Windows GUI and how can I make the OS recognize them?

I have got the exact same problem and still haven't resolved it.

All i can suggest is that you use some kind of screen scratching software that automatically installs itself on any client you connect to provided you can authenticate ( I use DameWare Mini Remote Control).

Once you have control over the server again try changing the keyboard drivers. you could also try installing a serial mouse.

this will be a pain to resolve, I even got our maintenance company to change the KVM Switch and motherboard.

Best of luck,.

Warders,

Dude, you totally saved my behind. I tried the Dameware Mini Remote Software and it worked like a charm. Re-installed the drivers and everything works now. A million thanks.
