I have a report with a number of groups & sub groups.

Project
- Value Testing Exercise
- Service Value Tested

So for each project we have a number of value testing exercises and for each value testing exercise a number of services are value tested.

For some projects there is more data than others and I want to keep it all together if it fits on one page. If it goes over I want to place the page break at the - Value Testing Exercise or - Service Value Tested groups so it looks neater and I don't have large amounts of white space or the data goes over the page half way through the group.

Be grateful if someone could offer some help and suggestions.

Many thanks

This is the purpose of "Keep group together" in the group expert->options tab. However, you will get extra white space when an entire group moves to the next page in order to stay together.

Is there any way of using formulas to keep one group with it's parent group unless they go over the page or to insert a page break to minimise the white space.

Not sure what you have in mind. That's what keeping the group together does. You could try just using 'keep group together' on the inner group only. Otherwise, what would your criteria be for inserting a page break?

The structure of the data is:

Project
- Value Testing Exercise
- Service Value Tested

I want to, if possible, keep the project and all its related data together.

If the data goes into more that one page, I want to ensure that there's a page break only after a group. At the moment if I keep Value Testing Exercise & Service Value Tested together I get a lot of white space. I need to see if there is a way of checking if part of a group goes over the page then ensuring that the whole group start overleaf.

I would try just using keep group together on Service Value Tested. Either you use the 'keep group together' and get some white space, or you break within a group--there's really no other alternative.

If you decide you want to allow breaks within groups in order to eliminate white space, there are other methods for ensuring there are no orphaned group headers.
