Just wondering what's your "best practice" to update the ports and recompile all installed ports.
I kind of do this task all by hand, because I'm scared to mess up my system.
cheers, Walter

use portupgrade.
/usr/ports/sysutils/portupgrade
man portupgrade

tx for the answer - in the mean time I've setup a test machine and run the whole cvsup enchillada and my system still works! No, I'm going to have a closer look to portsupgrade....

Yeahwell, cvs by itself doesn't do anything to the system, if you're referring to a cvs of the source tree. When you do a make buildkernel and make installkernel, the fun could start ;-) Fortunately, there are ways to go back to a previous, working kernel.

Regards.
