I am using CR9, which I have learned that there ia bug that when you try to use "keep group together" and there is more data that can fit on the first page it will begin it all on the second page (the Report/Page header still display on the first page). This was corrected in CR10...what I haven't figured out is if there is a way to correct in CR9 via formula.

The report layout is:

GH1 -
GH2a - Sub1 (passing shared variable)
GH2b - Sub2 (passing shared variable)
GH2c - Sub3 (displays info based on shared variable from sub1, supressed otherwise)
GH2d - Sub4 (displays info based on shared variable from sub2, supressed otherwise)
details - suppressed

The grouping issue in question is for the group headers C and D, when they display data from the subs are bigger than a page, it begins only on page 2. I have tried to remove all the "keep together" options on the main and subs, but it has not resolved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not sure what you are aiming for, but did you try selecting the subreport->format subreport->common tab->uncheck "Keep object together"?

I remember this from 8.5 and I never found an answer. We went from 8.5 to 10 and it was fixed in 10, as you said.

In versions of Crystal up through 9, users have noticed a quirk in the way Crystal applies the "Keep Group Together" option. Namely, when the first group of the report spans more than one page, the first group will end up starting on page two rather than on page one. The first page will contain only the Report Header, and blank space. This has been fixed in v10 by the addition of a Report Option named "Respect Keep Group Together on First Page". This property is (wisely) set to "off" by default for any new report. This means that using "Keep Group Together" will NOT create an extra page at the beginning of the report. If, for some odd reason, you prefer the original behavior you can activate the property for any report.

This has been a crazy report to build, Muphy's Law that now that it is finished I will be undone by this ; )

lbass thank you for making me recheck. I still had a check the "keep object together" for my subreport in GH2d. It shouldn't have mattered as the sub was suppressed (no data), but for what ever reason it seems to have worked.

I spoke prematurely, the problem is still present. I don't really expect a solution at this time but can always hope someone has come across this back in the day ; )
