I am not using a mobile device but every time I try to access I get redirected to m.cnn.com and the same goes for it goes to m.evite.com. I deleted cookies and temporary files. Anyone know how to fix that?

Thanks
Tarsier

What browser are you using and what user agent string is reported when you visit here?

Internet Explorer

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727;)

Your user agent string is correct, so that's not it. Does it still happen when you run IE in 'no add-ons mode'?

You should find Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) in Accessories, System Tools. Or you can start it from the command line or make your own shortcut with the target "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

What happens if you use a different browser (e.g. Firefox, Safari, or Opera)?

If they also redirect you, then it could be your hosts file, or DNS server (more likely the latter).

At least that will tell you if it's an IE problem or not.

Hope this helps,
Dan

I ran IE in no ad-ins mode and it still goes to mobile.

It happens only in IE, not in Safari.

Visit this site:
What does your user agent string contain?

The only thing I've managed to find is if it has "Tablet PC 2.0" in it, then you could try the following:

- Clear your browser cache
- Quit IE
- Delete registry key HKLM -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Internet Settings -> 5.0 -> User Agent -> Post Platform -> Tablet PC 2.0

Hope this helps,
Dan

Dan, It's going to contain the same thing that he posted before when I asked [wink]

I don't really expect it to make a difference, but it couldn't hurt to try manually deleting any cookies associated with these problem websites.

As I mentioned in my previous post I already deleted cookies and temporary files

Just out of interest, if you visit the following registry key, what values are stored against it?:

HKLM -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Internet Settings -> 5.0 -> User Agent -> Post Platform

By 'manually delete cookies' I meant to do exactly that - look throught the list and manully delete any that are named with the name of the problem websites. The Internet Options to clear your TIF & delete cookies doesn't always work the way that you think (but that's another discussion altogether).

One other [rather unlikely] thought that I just had is: Are you behind a proxy server of any kind? - this includes any psuedo-proxy created by your antivirus/antispyware software which might be called 'protect my computer from website threats' or anything similar.

Here is what is listed in the registry:

(Default) Reg_SZ (value not set)
.NET CLR 1.1.4322 Reg_SZ
.NET CLR 2.0.50727 Reg_SZ
InfoPath.2 Reg_SZ
