KDE3 and Mandrake 8.2 problems

I have a white-box AMD1700XP with an almost new installation of M8.2. I decided to try KDE3 install.
I had a heck of a time getting it installed (lots of rpm errors -- had to do everything in init s and used --nodeps), but eventually it seems OK .. **BUT** here are the problems:

1) at login it always reverts to the "Faces" login, even though I keep turning it off!

2) everytime I log in, the KPersonalizer Wizard runs ... I can't get it to stop!

3) Ximian Evolution runs onces, but then if you quit and re-run, it fails saying "Config Database not found!".

This is with XFree 4.2 and Nvidia TNT2 video drivers (which I got running OK).

The evolution Config Database fails ALL THE TIME! I have the newest beta version, and it's still having problems. Don't worry about that. Just close eveolution and open it back up and it will work. Other stuff I don't know about 'cause I use GNOME.
