when installed new version of kazaa media desktop 2.0.2 the apache webserver is overridden and wouldnt allow the apche webserver to be started.
and when typed into the web browser all the shared media files that are being shared in the shared folders in the kazaa program files are displayed as downloadable links
how do i stop kazaa from doing this ??? any help is very mych appreciated. if nothing can be done i shall uninstall kazaa...............

Check 2 things....

when KaZaA is running, go to the command propmt and type:

netstat -a

It will show you what is running on which port. Make sure KaZaA isn't running on port 80.

#2, make sure that your shared folder isn't the same folder as your htdocs.

If that doesn't straighten you out, let me know...I have a few other tricks up my sleeve. ;-) Hope I was of some help...

Kazaa is most likely on port 1214. If you have Kazaa running, you can open a browser window and go to "localhost:1214". Assuming you have sharing turned on, it should show you a list of the files in your shared folder (not the ".dat" files, though).

I have this problem too. But instead of trying to fix it I just uninstalled Kazaa. Eventhough I no longer have a shared documents folder with files in it, when I load up apache (version 1.3.23 - in windows XP) when I go to htpp://localhost I still get a list of the old files that I once had in the shared documents folder of kazaa. My c:\apache\htdocs folder is not being accessed here and I'm just wondering why!
