I'm using SMS to remote control a server at a remote site. This is the only computer I ever remote access, out of a very long list of PCs. Instead of having to click down 14 menus and groups and collections and whatever else, can I just create a shortcut that will go straight to this one machine? I'm a user, not the administrator.

My PC: XP w/SMS vers 2.50.3174.1000
Remote PC: Win2K (and same SMS)

You could create a collection called AAATargetServerFor Remote, and just have this machine in the collection. This way, due to the AAA, it will apear at the top of the collection, as all features in MMC are aranged alphabetically. This is the easiest and tidyest way to do it. This way you are always linked with the rest of SMS, rather than taking a snapshot of the connection information then going solo. If something changes, your shotcut is duff.

Hope this helps. vvvv hehehe :)

If you already have the admin console locate remote.exe on your computer then you could make a batchfile or run a command prompt that would go:

c:\whereveritis\remote.exe 3 theNetBiosNameofWhereYourConnecting \\siteservername\

and there ya go
