Just passed both tests..

I just got both tests past and I have to say that they were extremly easy!! Both test combind only took me about 20 minutes.. Is this test really that big of a deal?? If they are so easy to pass, why wouldn't eveyone have them??
Anyway, I just wanted to say any person thats been working with computers for about a year could just blow right these!!

First off congratulations!! I have herd many say the A+ has become easy. Well maybe it has, who knows. It has never really been hard as long as you know what you are doing. As for blowing by it if you been working with computers after 1 year, I doubt it. When I ran a retail store I sent several to get certified who were very knowlegable, and they failed. These individuals did pass the second time though. My point is it depends on what you know and how much experience you have going into it.

Now it is time for you to take the next step. Before you go MS look at Net+ or Server+. James Collins

I failed both! Twice! And haven't studied for about 2 Months now. I'm at this forum to get back on my horse. I've been working with computers all my life at home, but never any job experience. I think thats what makes the difference. We'll see how I do, third times a charm right? Better be, I can't afford this anymore, or even get a job working with computers because I'm not certified. We'll see what happens.

I recently passed both exams and I too agree that they were pretty easy. My studying for it was like killing a fly with a pound of C-4. I am not a good test taker in general and have been working with computers for years.

Pardon the obvious, but one test taking tip that helped me a lot was this: When you face a question that presents more than one seemingly correct answer, choose the "more correct" or "most correct" answer.

Taking that approach got me out of some ambiguous situations on the tests.

Congratulations! I took and passed the tests back in the 486DX days. It was real easy then. I agree with James, your next course of action should be Net+ or Server+, get the general standards aced, and then move onto the specifics.

I think it's VERY helpful that A+ and Server+ are elective options towards the MCSA certification. Makes it easier to get along and not necessarily 100% Windows specific (well, a small majority of A+ wasn't).

I still have to brush up on a few things then I'll be up for the tests... should be fun. J.R. Juiliano

I just recently took the hardware class for the the test. can you guys give me some tips on what to focus my study on for test preparation?
I have worked with computer for a while, but I have never worked with the hardware. any suggestions?

the core simulation is a spittin image of the real thing, i mean exactly the same type of questions but the o/s part really s0rked! There were unexpected weird os questions for the os part of the test. Just know yur DOS troubleshooting line commands, the diffrence of FAT32 and NTFS and the MMC on win2k. Good luck! it feels good once you enterd in your last answer and the screen shows "Congragulations! You have passed!"

im living in the UK and over here there is an IT school which offers this course, which only takes five days is this possible? and is £695.00 = $1,023.22 USD a reasonable price?

It is not worth $1,000.
You can learn everything you need spending less time reading a good training manual. also take practice tests online and check out forums and braindumps. This is definitely possible to do in 1 week. As long as you devote as much time as you would at a school.

I couldn't agree more with the previous reply. I did my exam in 97 and it was easy but we had nothing to study with, everything was based on experience. Recently one of my co-worker who is very knowlegeable in computers had the unfortunate chance of failing the hardware part 4 times. He had aced all the simulation exams and everytime got difference questions. Finally a few weeks ago, he went back and passed. This time, one 1 of the questions was new to him, he had seen all of the othe questions. I paid a lot for his exams...
