uninstalled Backup Exec, deleted all the old tapes from the backup media pool, and got all new tapes. I also updates the tape drive's firmware while I was at it. Now when I place a tape in the drive, it is not detected by backup exec. for that matter, it is not detected in windows removable storage either. I got 1 of the new tapes to been aknoweleged by windows removable storage 1 time, but now even that volume isn't even seen at all by windows or veritias. When I say isn't seen, I mean that no matter how many times I refresh the display, veritas and removable storage both say that the tape drive is empty, and I am about to flip out here!

Please Help!

Sounds like you might have a driver problem. Roll back your drivers and see if that works. If Windows Removable Storage can't see the drive and media then there's no way Veritas can.

Just got in to day, and the tape drive is no even listed under device manager. Nor is it found when I do an add new hardware!!

WTF?!??!

Just uninstalled the drive, rebooted, reinstalled (add hardware found it), and rebooted again. Still no drive!

Still no drive where in windows or backup exec?

no drive listed anywhere except as offline in windows removable storage manager...

The drive is under warranty, so we're getting a new one.
