How do i configure our 5.5 exchange server to ristrict junk mail?

Unfortunately without blocking out email addresses and domains, which is rather futile you cannot.

You need 3rd part software.

Well your average spammer will change email addresses daily, and spoof his addresses to boot (so you could well be blocking out legitimate email addresses).

Also maintaining a list of that magnitude would be no small task.

I am having the same problem at work. We are not only getting alot of Junk mail but alot of this mail is pornographic.

Does anybody have any suggestions of a 3rd party software to help with this?

We have been evaluating a service called Postini. It works awesome. check them out at

the cost is around $2 to $3 dollars a month per user. Well worth the Money in my opinion. We were spending around 4 hrs per day adding restricitions on our Mail server and our FireWall and this has cut that down to absolutly 0 hrs per day. There is no Server software to install or overhead for your system at all.

We use MailMarshal for SMTP from Marshal Software (

http://www.marshalsoftware.com/)

and we are very happy with it. It lets us control what content is blocked, if any, and lets us virus scan all incoming and outgoing mail. We have a site license for McAfee Virusscan, and MailMarshal uses it to do its virus scanning. The content filtering for Spam and P*rn spam is good, and the signature files are updated periodically. Also, I can pass through any mail that was accidentally blocked, which is useful.
