jtextarea stays blank when typing in it

Hi all,

When I try to type into a Jtextarea, no text appears at all. The area stays blank.
I know it is there because I did a select all + copy, then pasted it into notepad and it was there.

Anybody had the same problem?

Thanks but I dont really understand how the problem was fixed.

"But I changed the textfield to JTextField and it works."
What was there before?

I need to mix Swing and Awt because I need the new components from Swing and the java.awt.event.*

Thanks.
