JS Dropdown menu to hold down state

[AKS44]

I am working on a dropdown menu, and I need it to hold the down state of the top level menu item while you move over it's sub, and to come back to the up state once you move off.

You can view an example of this menu in its current version -

, if you move over products the top item fades to its down state but when you move to the sub of that menu item it fades back in.

The following is the .js file that controls this function at around line 300 you will see the attempt at this resolution commented out. Any and all help is greatly appreciated…..

I don't see any fading anyway in Fx/Win1.5.0.3 - perhaps it's an IE only script? If so, consider ditching it if it only works in one browser, or fixing it so it works in most.

That aside, you'd need to look into a timer - so when you mouse out of the top level item, .start a timer, and when it fires, fade out. Then, when you mouse on a sub item, clear the timer.

Obviously you'll have to do a bit of logic to determine whether you've rolled on a different submenu / top-level item, etc... but that's pretty trivial.
