One of the laptops in my office is having trouble viewing jpegs in internet explorer 6 sp1. The jpeg's show up as red x's on the web sites. Not all websites are affected. I have tried deleting all temp internet files and cookies with out any success in fixing the problem. Under Add Remove Programs, when I choose to remove the program, I use the option to repair the installation, and this fixes the problem for a day or two. No other computer in the office has this problem. Any idea's?

Hello KevB99: Maybe look into this>> If the URL for the JPEG image contains a username:password string, you may be limited to saving the graphic as a bitmap. To save the image as a JPEG, Microsoft suggests copying the image from Temporary Internet Files or copying the URL and editing it to remove the username: password.

This problem can also occur when your Temporary Internet Files folder has reached the size limit specified in Tools | Options. In that case, simply clear the Temporary Internet Files. Another possibility is that you have checked Do not save encrypted pages to disk on the Advanced tab of Tools | Options, and the picture is on a page reached by a secure https:// connection.

Hi tomgg:
I wouldn't cache encrypted pages (where I'd just filled out my credit card # in a form) on my hard drive...
probably totally paranoid, but I still wouldn't do it to enable seeing other than little red xes when a website doesn't fill in. Just my opinion.

I'd try uninstalling IE6 completely then reinstalling it.
If your OS is Win98, I'd try overwriting the install of the OS...in lieu of previous suggestion. Browser/OS intricately woven...I've fixed things in either by reinstalling the mate of the pair.
