I need help please. When I open a folder which has .jpg files in it, when I simply SELECT (highlight with a single click) a file, what USED to happen is that a small PREVIEW of that picture would appear on the left side of the opened folder window. Now, the filename still is listed there, the filename date, and file size, but... no more PREVIEW image!
The icons are correct, double clicking on the file correctly opens the image using Ulead PhotoImpact 5.0, but NO PREVIEW in the Windows folder view anymore!

So the application association for the .jpg file extension is correct, since the proper program starts and correctly displays the image. But no preview in Windows....

any ideas? Please?!
thanks

Just a thought; change the association for jpg to a different graphics package, if you have one. Also, check that you have associated .jpg and .jpeg

It has something to do with your folder options in explorer. I forget where the exact settings are but check under view/options and there are a couple of settings as to the way explorer displays information. I don't have a win98 machine right now so I can't give you exact details, but this should be enough to get you on your way.

I'm having exactly the same problem, ironically with the same Ulead Photo Impact viewer, but my problem started when I installed Corel Photo Paint 8 yesterday, which associated my .JPG and .GIF files with itself. I didn't want this, so I associated them with Ulead and encountered the same problem as you. I'm sure you will also find you can't view the images as thumbnails either. I'm not, however, having problems with my .GIFs.
I've posted at another board in the hopes of getting some help, and was about to do the same here, but I'll just watch the responses to your post, and if I get any further usefull info, I'll pass it along.

Hi, I'm back with what I hope is the solution for you. This morning , I went to the resposes I received from my other post, and additionally read responses to a similar problem that was posted a while ago. Between them, I received two possible solutions.
The first worked for me. I downloaded the SR1 5.1 service pack for Explorer 5.0 from the Microsoft site, and that did it. I don't know if this applies to you, as I don't know what browser you're using.
If this isn't your case, try downloading the sixth file (previewfix.zip) from Pladsdownes site...... - It's a small program written specificly for this problem. I downloaded this program for possible future problems.

You'll have to enter the site address manually onto the Explorer address bar. For some reason, the link on my previous post doesn't take you there.
