If at first you don't succeed, ....

Me again.

I'm using AutoCAD LT 2000 and trying to create a JPEG file from a DWG file. I have been able to successfully install a JPEG plotter device.

However, it will only let me create a JPEG file with the model view, not the layout view. I have tried just about every setting but when I plot the layout view I get a blank image! I have changed the colour of the layout view to white, from black. No difference. Still blank.

Can someone please help?

Assuming you have a viewport setup in the layout view you are trying to plot, and the layers your geometry resides is not frozen in the viewport...

Check your scale setting when you plot and use the "Full Preview..." button to make sure you're getting what you want. You may want to select "Scaled to Fit" for starters.

Thanks Todd but there seems to be nothing wrong with any of those settings.

When I go into the Plotter Config. Editor for this device I noticed a statement in the Media>Source and Size window. "This device cannot configure some(all) of these values." There are numerous selections under size. No matter what size I pick that statement is still there. Could this be my problem?

Any suggestions?

Could very well be. More likely though is the OS AutoCAD LT is sitting on. You didn't mention which OS you're using but I'm guessing its either 2000, or XP - both of which Autodesk won't support for any of their 2000 products. This may be just a hit and miss thing (meaning sometimes it will work other times it won't).

The other option may be just a corrupt PC3 file. Try to either edit your JPEG output PC3 file, check the output sizes and see if there is something you might be able to work with. If not delete the PC3 file and add a new one:

[ol]
[li]On the File menu, click Plotter Manager.[/li]
[li]Double-click the Add-a-Plotter wizard.[/li]
[li]If prompted, select your product, and click OK.[/li]
[li]Click Next twice to start the wizard and accept My Computer.[/li]
[li]On the Plotter Model page, under Manufacturers, select Raster File Formats. Under Models, select Independent JPEG Group JFIF (JPEG Compression), and then click Next.[/li]
[li]Click Next again to skip the Import PCP or PC2 option.[/li]
[li]Ensure that Plot to File is selected, and then click Next.[/li]
[li]Click Next again to accept the plotter name, and then click Finish.[/li]
[/ol]

This seems most closest to what I am looking for. I have to make publication book for a building to show apartment types available. Now I need to provide the Layouts in JPG or TIFF format to the printer (Publisher). I need it in 300 DPI. Possible guys? Tell me how....

Not the ideal solution, but could you print the file and then scan the print?

If you have adobe Acrobat you could print to a PDF file, and then extract a jepg from the pdf.

I thing you can export to a WMF file. You could then take this into Powerpoint, resize it to that size you want(resize one slide), and then you can save that slide as a JPEG.

AutoCAD doesn't like to export graphics through a view port. If you JPEG Printer will work in paper space, you could simply move then info from mmodel info from model space, and scale it down, and put it in the right place in paper space.

You think there would be an easier way to do this!

Hi Paramveer,

What you'll need to do is plot using the "Publish to WEB JPG.pc3" as a printer/plotter.

Then, in your plot settings tab, you'll see various options for resolutions.
