I have crystal reports version 7.0 connected to a symposium, Sybase database. The problem I am having is when I go to join two tables in the report the visual linking expert joins the tables with an inner join selecting all fields that have compatible join properties. When I go to preview the report it give me the error that there is no left outer join present. I go to change the join properties in the "show sql view" and it makes the connection but takes forever to query the tables and when it finally does show the preview, the data is skewed. I am not sure what needs to be done here. I have read the book but was no help.

CR 7 is very old, so it's hard to remember.

Try posting the actual error rather than your interpretation of it, complete with any error numbers.

If possible, create a View on the database to accomplish the join and use the View, generally a better idea all around as it's reusable by other tools and let's the database do the heavy lifting.

Here is the error I am recieving: ODBC error:[SYBASE][ODBC Sybase driver] The Keywords LEFT OUTER JOIN were not found in an outer join escape sequence.

then:

error detected by database dll
