I'm sure there is a fairly simple explanation for this but why is it possible to join a Windows Server 2003 computer to a Windows 2000 AD Domain when supplying a blank username and password. When you click Change to open the Computer Name Change dialog and type in the domain that you want to join, it prompts you for a user account that has permissions to join the computer to the domain. I click OK without supplying a user and password and the server joined the domain successfully. I don't see how this happened or how it is possible. Is it a group policy setting on the Domain Controller that is not set up correctly or what? Any advice would be great on this.

sounds like a fault on one of the operating systems, have you tried doing the same with another os such as win2k pro or XP?

Sounds as if you were already logged on the domain as an Administrator. 2003 does a lot of things you don't ask it to.
