Hi,
I think this was a simple questione but I'm new on linux (I'm a m$ sysadmin)....so I want to know how to join a debian member server on my 2003 active directory domain to share resources and to use the same user permission.

Any helps or docs have appreciated ...
Thanks
Ibi

I would be interested in anything you find out. I'm watching this thread.

I know that Active Directory can work with OpenLDAP for authentication and login, but the issue comes in with the Samba shares and AD groups. I haven't read enough about the subject to say much on it, but I'm interested in what you find out.

A part from the always good but sometimes overwelming samba documentation, I found a good tutorial once (the only time I needed to fight with ADS) at the link below

If I could have sex each time I reboot my server, I would definitely prefer Windoz over Linux!

Thanks for your quickly reply .
I've read the documemtatione and the only think that not function is "getent passwd" .
On my W2003 domain controller I see my samba server but if I use getent passwd I can't see ADS user but I only see local user .....

any ideas?
Thanks

then the authentication is still happening on the linux server.

Post more information, log lines, config scripts and we can try debug.
