Hi

Just upgraded to Veritas 10, our first full backup job ran OK but since then every job just stays as queued and doesn't run at all.

Please Help

Jeremy

Check the alerts tab for any prompts for media , etc. Move the tapes to scratch media and see what happens

Can you let me know how you got it sorted? I've tried rebooting the server, tried changing media options, nothing has helped. I'm trying to run a backup job to a "backup-to-disk folder" even and all of my jobs are getting queued.

Our backup jobs have been working for over two months with no problems until this week when everything becomes queued and stays queued. No alerts at all.

Thanks,

I have reloaded the database and re set all jobs etc and now it runs fine, indicating I didnt have a hardware issue - does anybody know what else could cause this? Ive only had BE for 2 weeks and only performed one full backup and it stopped working (staying on queued). I wonder if theres something in the job set up thats doing this: I set up 3 backup to disk folders (for each drive in the backup server). When I took one set out and put the new set in the next week this is when it stopped working, and I know its not the drives becuase the backup now runs fine with the new BE database installed. I have now set up the drives as removable backup devices, is the correct way it should have been done in the first place?
Many thanks,
Nick

Hi,

FYI this problem was caused by one bad sector on one of the hard disks, having formatted and done a disk check it now works. The disk was still viewable so didnt think about a bad sector issue, but having formatted it now works fine. I may make the format and checkdisk part of the weekly change over of disks.
Cheers,
Nick
