I have Backup Exec 7.2 with exchange plug in on NT. Every job gets to 99% correctly at a similar transfer rate to the other servers (all BE 6). Then it just sits there after ejecting the tape and will not finish until you put any other tape in.
Any ideas why?
I work with Seagate on a daily basis and it does not allow tape spanning. Sounds like it is reaching EOT and not updating the directory. When you put in a new tape it must be posting the directory their. I haven't seen your problem, but it is one that I will keep a eye out for. Thankyou for the possible issue.

The tape is a white one (20Gb I think) in a brand new Quantum DLT drive (20/40). The server contains 2.5Gb of data so I don't think it is reaching the end of tape. The back up is set to overwrite not append and the tapes are new and are rotated so it is not just a couple of tapes.
Any ideas? The log says the each drive backs up ok at 80Mb per minute or thereabouts the same speed as my other servers but after the backuping up finishes, the job does not.

Do you have any data loss? How many tapes has this happened to? I am having a meeting with Seagate Engineers so If I could get a profile of the system and your backup set and what you have the backup commands set to I may be able to get a definitive answer for you. Seagate is one of our software vendors so they usually jump on my questions and problems. Let me know, I will check into it.

Thanks for that. I'd be happier sending server details by email rather than posting here. Can you email youe address to Zelandakh@hotmail.com
I'll send server specs and the latest backup log. Anything else?

Send the log from NT's memory.dmp file if you have it.
