Jobs hang at Pending status

New Sony DDS3 drive worked for a week and now Backup Exec 7.3 build 2575 seems to hang at Pending status for all jobs, scheduled jobs, tape erase, etc. This version has worked in this server (Compaq) for several years and only had problems when previous Sony tape drive failed last month. I'm having the same problem using on a Dell PE4600 server w/ Super DLT drive and Veritas BE 9 Build 4367. If I cancel a job, the software goes into "Cancel Pending" status and never recovers (even after 48 hours). Right now, I can't get into BE's Services tab either. I tried shutting down the services for BE through Admin Tools, but the Job Engine service fails to stop. At this point, I'm left having to reboot a server during the middle of the day - NOT good.

Any ideas or suggestions?

The best way that I have found to handle this is to use Sysinternals program called Process Explorer at:

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml

It's fairly intuitive just be careful not to Kill a process that might not enjoy having the rug jerked out from under it.
