Hi

Running Brightstor 9.0 (build 2200). Backing up onto LTOIII media. The job was working fine for ages then all of a sudden it still backs up (more or less) the same amouont of data but the job reaches 100% and does not stop. I have to crash the job.

Have done firmware updates on the drive and driver updates but to no avail.

I have also deleted and recreated the job but to no avail

Any ideas?

1) try changing the order so that a different target is backed up last.
2) check the temp directory when no jobs are running. It should be empty.

Thanks

The Temp directory has some .cat files going back a few days

How would I go about changing the order of the backup - there is only one job running across a couple of servers?

Thanks

Before submitting the job, there is a window that shows Submit Job at the top and has a choice to do a Run Now or Run On. In that window there is a button Source Priority, click on that.

When there are no jobs running, run mergecat.exe to get rid of the old cat files. If that does not do it ck for any tmp files in there and delete them (again this is only when no jobs are running). If those cat files still will not get merged in delete them.

Thanks for your help

Tried mergecat.exe but nothing seems to happen. What is the impact of deleting the .cat files?

Also tried changing the order of the backups but that did not help

The cat files contain backup history, delete the files and the history does not make it into the database. Tapes can always be merged if need be.

Empty out the temp folder and lets see if that takes care of this problem.

Thanks very much

have emptied the temp file so will try again tonight

I'll let you know how it goes

Worked fine last night - thanks for all your help!
