Hi All,

I'm seeing something odd and I'm wondering what I'm missing.

NetBackup 5, MP6, 4 drive tape library.

There's a DSSU duplication running and it's using 2 of the drives. There's a manually-started policy waiting to run that remains queued even with 2 drives available.

Why might that happen?

Thanks for any ideas,

Dan

How many Storage Units do you have and how many drives are allocated to each? It may be that because the DSSU is holding all 4 drives during duplication and the policy is using a different StorageUnit.

I think you're correct...most of my storage units are disk staging that have one of a couple tape-based storage units as final destination. Reviewing the tape-based storage units, I'm seeing that there could be overlap with the drives allocated to each.

What is the most flexible way to resolve this?

Would it be better to point all the stages at one tape-based storage unit that had access to all the drives? Or would it be better to narrow the drive allocations so that no storage unit could claim all drives at once?

Thanks,

Dan
