Job just won't run on Arcserve 2000

I have just installed Arcserve 2000 on one of our servers, I have licensed it properly (with the help of ca) but when I try to run a backup job the job activity box appears but nothing happens.

I have run a job on NT backup and this is fine.

I have checked the lic98.log and there are no licensing issues.

I can format, erase and eject the tape from Arcserve but no backup.
I am trying to back up standard nt / 2000 stuff so I have no need for an agent.

The server a 3 year olf compaq with a standard dat drive using dds3 - any ideas please???

Well - how are you creating the backup job?
Wizzard or backup manager? Is your job engine shuting down (goes red)? Are you getting any messages in the Activity Log?

Tkae it that is is patched to SP4 ?

Had this problem too - SP4 solved it.
