Job completion status: Canceled by \ 1

This just recently started happening:

The backup job runs w/ no errors, but the verify job is canceled w/ the message "Job completion status: Canceled by \" Also, the event application log writes the following: Event ID 57744, Job "Backup01:Incr" was canceled at the user's request. I've also tried manually starting a verify job and i get the same result.

I've searched this forum as well as veritas support and no luck. If someone has experienced this before, please help.

Can't help you with the problem you are having, but I can help you with a problem you may not be aware of. I noticed you have BE 8.6 build 3808 and SQL Server 2K. Are you using BE to backup SQL Server (using the SQL Agent)? Or are you using SQL Server to create a backup and then using BE to back the .bak file to tape?

Solved...

turns out the backup drive went bad. it acted like it was backing up but would fail on verify. the reason it failed was b/c there was actually no readable data on the tape. i found this out by cataloguing the tapes and finding 0 bytes on them. backup to disk works fine.
