Hi , I am using NWS 7.3.2 on win2k3 R2 Ent. Ed.and a ADIC Scalar 24 Autochanger which have 2 LTO3 drives.

When I issue "jbconfig" on the NWS, it outputs:
-----------------------------------------------------------
C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\bin>jbconfig

Jbconfig is running on host cisnp199.heh.net (Windows Server 2003 5.2),
and is using cisnp199.heh.net as the NetWorker server.

1) Configure an AlphaStor Library.
2) Configure an Autodetected SCSI Jukebox.
3) Configure an Autodetected NDMP SCSI Jukebox.
4) Configure an SJI Jukebox.
5) Configure an STL Silo.
6) Configure a Microsoft Removable Storage Jukebox.

What kind of Jukebox are you configuring? [1] 2
Scanning SCSI buses; this may take a while ...
Error in nt_lus_get_inquiry; error was 1
Incorrect function.

Installing 'Standard SCSI Jukebox' jukebox - scsidev@6.2.1.

What name do you want to assign to this jukebox device? ADIC
Attempting to detect serial numbers on the jukebox and drives ...

Will try to use SCSI information returned by jukebox to configure drives.

C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\bin>
----------------------------------------------------------

It's strange to me that the "jbconfig" command is not complete, cos it let you to config the device path normally.
but it just stop here now.

And I find an error "Faulting application jbconfig.exe, version 7.3.2.0, faulting module jbconfig.exe, version 7.3.2.0, fault address 0x00018da0." in the windows application event log.

Please give me some advices, cos I need to create the device on the Dedicate Storage Node by "jbconfig".
or there is another way to do so?

Thanks!
San

Hi,

It looks a bit strange since you actually are getting errors from both jbconfig and inquire. I don't know if that is a major issue or not. Is this a new installation or has it been set up before and been working? From the inquire, Tape1 doesn't return serial nr etc.

You could start by trying to disable RSM service if that is running. You could also try to disable the Changer in device manager in Windows and rerun the jbconfig. Does the sjirdtag and other sji command work for you? Could you try with another driver for the LTO3 drives?

If it still doesn't work, I would try to remove the changer and tape drives and run an inquire to see if it is any of those that gives you the error, possibly Tape1.

Finally if you still don't have any success I would try another version of NetWorker (at least the inquire command).

It's not a new installation, we can backup by both the NWS and DSN before. At this stage, all my Networker Client machines are on the domain while the NWS does not.

Then all my clients backup failed except those doing on the DSN after the NWS join to the domain, the backup fail due to can't find writable volumes. So, I delete both the autochanger and tape drives on the NWS GUI, and issue the "jbconfig" again, but it fail as stated.

Any solution?

To my opinion windows mixes the drive numbers :
The Adic Scalar has the scsi-id 6.2.1
You Tape1 in Windows has 6.2.0 i think this is the first Drive of your Adic Library and
your Tape0 at 2.2.0 is your second Drive in the Library.
Please check this by comparinmg the serialnumbers of the drives, you can use the frontpanel of the library to check serial numbers.
Pleas note the Scsi-ids of robotic and each drive from the inquire command.
Then rerun jbconfig
select option 4
select library type 56 (standard scsi jukebox)
provide the name eg. ADIC
provide the controlport eg. scsidev@6.2.1
then give the path for the first drive with \\.\Tape1
and the sevcond tape with \\.\Tape0
select the appropriate device type and you are (with a little luck) ready to run backups

Did you ever try the option "-l" (LUN 'support') for both, inquire & jbconfig ?
