Dear experts;

Greetings, I am currently installing and application that requires Java but I am getting the following message:

"The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not defined
This environment variable is needed to run this program"

I am using Solaris 8, and when I setenv JAVA_HOME = /.. on the csh shell I do gett:
"setenv: Too many arguments"

Thank you,
Tonta Mucage

run a "setenv JAVA_HOME /this/is/the/path" without using an "=" sign...

Best Regards, Franz

Dear Franz;

Now I am not getting the Too many arguments message anymore, however I am getting the following one:

The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not defined correctly
This environment variable is needed to run this program
NB: JAVA_HOME should point to a JDK not a JRE

What does it means by the last line?

Thank you

It's looking in the wrong place. What is your $JAVA_HOME set to? It needs to point to the Java Development Kit (JDK).
