Hello,

I have a problem with Crystal Reports viewed through the Java Viewer (from CR 8.0) on a specific machine, which is a Windows Server 2003 Citrix Server. The reports appear fine in the viewer, but when printed (multiple printers), the margin is shifted to the left and the left edge of the printout (about 1/2 a character - still readable) is cut off. This happens when logged into the server itself as Administrator, as well as to clients logged in through the Citrix client. I have output from the ActiveX viewer that appears normal.

We had difficulty with this server to begin with, as we had to install the correct Java VM from Microsoft that works with Magic Total Service Desk, before we could get to the prompt that downloads the Crystal Java Viewer. Our engineers that manage the servers have little time to troubleshoot, so I am hoping someone has had a similar experience and can point us in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Susan

Dear MagicGirl,

Can you provide more specific information?

You state Crystal 8.0 which indicates a version of MagicTSD at 7.20 or below, is that correct?

Some info that would be helpful:

Exact version of MagicTSD including Service Packs.

Exact settings for Printer Setup on the report(s) on which the problem is ocurring.

Specific Printer Chosen Y/N
Default Properties checked Y/N
Printer Installed on Server Y/N

<I know you said it was global, but is that from testing all the reports or just the reports that are run all the time ... indicating maybe those are custom reports.>

Usually printing problems can be easily resolved either through changing the settings or through a Crystal Update.

Regards,

ro

Hi, Rosemary,

You may be interested in knowing this: we had to drop our Citrix Server (Windows 2003 Server) down to a Java Virtual Machine version lower than recommended for Magic 7.2 (I believe it was 1.1, but I can get you the specifics if you'd like). We originally couldn't get the printing sequence to work (I think it was hanging at the viewer install) until we upgraded from recommended VM version to a higher version (I believe 1.3), and this allowed her to print, but with the margin problem. Once we dropped to a lower version number, it corrected the margin problem.

Again, if you'd like the specifics, I'll get the engineer who did it to go over it with me. Thanks for your input!

Susan

Dear Susan,

I would love to know the specifics for my own edification.

Hi, Rosemary,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. For some reason, I can't get the exact version number of the VM, but our director of ops sent me the executable. Its name is msjavx86xp.exe. I didn't even get the version # from running the install. If this isn't enough info, I can simply send you the executable. :)

Dear Susan,

If you wouldn't mind that would be wornderful, otherwise I will track it down.

Thanks,

ro
