Hi all
I wish to do a conditional check to see whether the users browser has Java(Sun)installed and/or enabled using javascript or any other means so that if the users browser does not have Java installed or enabled I can update the page accordingly. JavaScript detection of Java(Sun) works fine in Firefox, Opera, Netscape but suprise! suprise! IE says 'yes' it is installed and enabled even when Java(Sun) is not installed and/or enabled.
I know this to be one of those little jewels Microsoft overlooks to set itself as far away from standardisation as possible.
There is another way which is simply placing an alternative piece of code within the Java object code but once again IE doesn't like this.
Is there a cure for this?
All help is much appreciated.
Regards
Mick
