Java/Sun Certification

Does Sun require me to attend any classes to get certified?

Can I just buy a few books, read them, take the tests, and then get certified?

Reason why I ask is that the classes are very expensive and I really don't have the $$$ to shell out on classes.

But I do have the money to buy a few books and do some self-study.

Yes, you can buy books and go to examination...then you pay only the exam you are aking. See on sun.com what exams you need to pass to get certify on sol 8, 9 or 10... I know that for "SUN Certified Systems Administrator on Solaris 8" you needed 2 exams..
