Hi,

I've got this problem with IE6.0 - i don't know if its a Java problem though. I can't see things that are java generated and XML charts. For instance, at this site, i can't see the light blue price charts at the right hand side of the screen and the sg indices too.

I can't seem to download or save any file from IE too, so, i'm loading it via netscape now. Please help, i would like my IE to work, though its ... ah-hem.. u know.. =P

I've tried all ways and means to get it up, and even played with the registeries, but, it still doesn't work. (i'm glad my pc is still working though)

Currently, i've set my registeries back to what it was suppose to be with regheal, something that i read abt at this site in one of threads...

hey - this forum is good stuff! excellent. =)
Thanks guys!

Rgds,

Hi Fins

Just a thought and no more I'm afraid. I use IE6.0 and find it usually good. Now and again I have a problem with image files, but that might be down to my ISP and modem.

Have you tried to restore default settings? Tools-Internet Options-Advanced-Restore Defaults. Other than that, try re-installing IE6.0, or look for a Windows fault.

"I can't seem to download or save any file from IE too"

You need to explain that further. What kind of downloads? What happens when you try? Any errors, etc?

For your other problem, download and install Virtual Machine build 3805 and see if that resolves it. It wouldn't hurt to try it.

Are you by any chance using Win XP, if so Java is not supported, you have to download and install the Java runtime environment. This was available from MS until recently but they have now removed it due to some dispute with Sun. You can now only get it from Sun themselves:
All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

"You can now only get it from Sun themselves"

Actually you can get Microsoft's Virtual Machine from many sites like the one I posted above. And if you have XP you can still get it from Microsoft through Windows Update. I've seen links for it. I would sugegst installing MS Virtual Machine over java from Sun. I've seen many experience problems with Sun's version but i haven't tried it myself.

If you have XP you might want to see this:

"Microsoft will include the Microsoft VM as part of the upcoming Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1). This means that any Windows XP licensee who does not already have the Microsoft VM will receive the Microsoft VM as part of this service pack."

Here's another direct download link for VM:

Kento,
Thanks for that, MS had said they have removed the VM download from their sites, and although there are still links to them they are mostly dead and it is no longer on the Windows Update page, however the one you supplied above still works. I am currently using the Sun JRE and am not particularly happy with it so will grab it while I can. Don't feel like waiting for SP! as I certainly will not get that till all the inevitable bugs have been ironed out. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

No problem. I grabbed a copy of VM myself just in case. ;) I would suggest that everyone do the same while it's still available and burn it to a cd.

Hi guys, thanks for all the responses. I've tried setting to default, and even re-installing the Ms Java VM, but, still, the charts doesn't work.

I'm using Win98, and i've been using the same connection all along. And, on one fine day, Ie6.0 refuses to display charts or download files... and i think its after i installed Winamp 8.0.

I usually have this error when i try to download a file, be it a .pdf, a .doc or whatever file

"Internet Explorer cannot download lec6.pdf from
Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. "

But apparently, the site is not down. When I try to download it over netscape, it works! Have tried all ways - any more ways to try out that i can use ? thanks!

Hi Fins

I just clicked the link and got on very quickly. I'm using Win98 with IE6.0, but I don't have Winamp. Logically, either a file is disrupting IE or it's corrupted. If you suspect Winamp, then I would suggest that you uninstall both programmes, clean registry, reboot and re-install both.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
