Java installation problem

My computer crapped out a while ago and i just got around to fixing it. It turned out the hard drive was toast so i got a new one put in. So pretty much i got a new computer but now when i try to install java onto my browsers i get a onslaught of error messages. I looked through all the system folders to see if Java was already on the new hard drive but i didnt find any thing, anyone know wtf is wrong?

Have you downloaded the full offline windows java package and tried that?

i downloaded the file and tried to install the file but it didn't work ether. i don't know what is going on anymore, are there any requirements that it needs that my computer might not have? or is there a anti-something program that's stopping the installation because its "unsafe"?...i might check that....but that hole requirements thing I'm still unsure about, like is there a program that java needs to run...or something....Thanks

2. What error messages do you get in the event log?

3. Are you running any AV software?

i was looking for older versions of java and i found this article at

i found my situation under the heading "Visitors Blame Java Applets" and now i'm wondering how to change my security settings to allow java.

and sorry about the triple post
