Japanese characters

I'm looking for a solution to create reports in Japanese from a SQL database. Is there any reason why Japanese characters WON'T appear in a SQL Reporting Services report?

The Japanese characters are not currently in my system. I'll have to create a translation table. Another question, does this table have to exist in SQL or can it reside in another application/format?
